Testing out the 2017 #SubaruImpreza in true Canadian fashion #NeverSitStill #SubaruVIP

I recently had the opportunity to test out the all new 2017 Subaru Impreza recently in Mirabel, Quebec in some truly Canadian driving conditions – think WHITE out winter blizzard. It was my first time in a Subaru and I was impressed with what I saw.

As a Canadian mom, safety comes first and foremost above everything. I was impressed to learn that the Subaru Impreza will continue its trend of winning top safety rating year after year with the 2017 model which features new active safety systems and is built stronger than ever. subaru, subaru impreza, 2017 subaru impreza, never sit still, subaruVIP, auto journalist, canadianmomeh
We got to test out the vehicle in the most Canadian of settings, in a full white out winter blizzard on a Formula One racetrack. It was the first snowstorm of the season and arguably the best way to test out a vehicle as it had been months since most of the bloggers and journalists at the event had driven in the snow.

In fact, the weather was so horrendous that it was difficult for me to capture any outdoor shots for you so I am using some file photos from Subaru Canada.

Here are a few features of the vehicle that really stood out for me:

Injury-reducing Seats and Seatbelt Systems
The front seats utilize frames, energy-absorbing mounting and active headrests to reduce the chance of whiplash. Height-adjustable front seatbelts with pretensioners and rear outboard seatbelts hold passengers firmly in place. A new locking tongue system is incorporated into the front seatbelts to further reduce potential injuries. The ISO-FIX/LATCH system, repositioned for easier access, helps secure younger passengers riding in compatible child safety seats.

Adaptive Cruise Control
Adaptive Cruise Control maintains a set speed and will automatically adjust to keep a safe distance from the car ahead. It is also capable of bringing your vehicle to a full stop and resume your settings as traffic begins to flow again.

Pre-collision Braking
Pre-collision Braking helps to gradually slow or stop the car completely when it sees a panic braking situation unfolding ahead of you.

Pre-collision Throttle Management
Pre-collision Throttle Management is designed to cut power from an absent-minded start, if it detects a potentially hazardous object is in your way.

Break-away Engine
Every Subaru goes above and beyond common practice when it comes to your safety. In the event of a head-on collision, the SUBARU BOXER engine and transmission are designed to absorb impact, and then break away from the vehicle structure and drop below the passenger cabin for added protection.

The combination of a world-class all-wheel drive system, striking agility, superior visibility and class-leading active safety systems such as EyeSight advanced driver-assist system, Subaru Rear/Side Vehicle Detection system and ABS gives the Subaru Impreza excellent evasive capabilities. After all, the best way to stay safe in an accident situation is to avoid the accident in the first place.
