Netflix #giveaway and phew! Glad to know I’m not the only binge watcher #StreamTeam
I love Netflix. I love binge-watching errr watching Netflix. My family and I are Netflix-a-holics. It has revolutionized how we watch movies and shows to the extent that we dropped cable about nine months ago and do not miss it one bit. That is why I was naturally ecstatic to be invited to join the Netflix Stream Team (woot woot!).
I cannot wait to get a sneak peak at amazing new television shows, movies and Netflix original series as well as update you on some of my favourites.
Summer was crazy and the hustle bustle of Fall has us running around like chickens with our heads cut off. After a long day of activities for the kids, lessons, homework, housework, meal prep and general adulating, one constant has been getting to unwind with Netflix. I love that each of my kids have their own profiles. I get to peak in to their profile every so often and double check what they’ve been watching (in addition to parental controls I already have in place) and we all get our pick of our favourite movies and television shows to choose from. Winner winner chicken dinner. When I see a show, series or movie that catches my interest, I simply add it to MY LIST that way when I do have time to watch, I can simply choose on the shows that peaked my interest earlier.
Some of my recent favourite series have been Good Wife, Suits, White Collar, The Mindy Project and the list goes on. (Sheepishly) I must admit I am a binge watcher. So…Netflix has a “Are you still watching?” screen that pops up…just to make sure there’s a person on the other end of the screen. I may or may not get personally offended when that message pops up. My response typically varies somewhere in the “YES I am, leave me alone,” “Darn tooting yes” or “Well…I was just about to turn it off,” if even I am alone in the room. Turns out I am not the only one. Netflix recently released the latest set of hooked episodes (the key episode that kept 70% of viewers watching until the end of the first season) of some of the most popular series on the service. In doing so, they discovered viewing behavior – and fandom – is quite universal. So…I am glad to be contributing to the scientific research here…by binge watching (shifty eyes). What are some of your favourite shows?
According to the findings: the hooked episode for Canadian users was the same as the global hooked episode for a number of series including The Fall (Ep. 2), Grey’s Anatomy (Ep. 2), Love (Ep. 3), Making a Murderer (Ep. 4), Marvel’s Jessica Jones (Ep. 4) and Narcos (Ep. 3). However, there were some shows that Canucks caught on too before the rest of the world such as Gilmore Girls (Canadian Hooked episode was 5, the Global Hooked episode of 7) and The Good Wife (Canadian Hooked episode was 5, the Global Hooked episode of 6).
