It’s no secret that I love coffee. Tim Hortons bold, delicious, earthy favours to be specific. My friends and family know this well. I’m the one to either suggest “hey, let’s do coffee,” or pick up coffee on my way out or on the road. Turns out I’m not alone!

Tim Hortons asked Canadians how they most often connect with others when enjoying Canada’s favourite cup of coffee.  Turns out, that the majority of people like to keep it personal. Catching up with an old friend (57%), spending quality time with a partner or spouse (50%) and gossiping with a good friend (38%) are the top three reasons why Canadians want to meet for coffee.

As a work at home millennial I can attest that coffee dates are the perfect marriage of career and work and the perfect venue to meet up for a quick meeting, work date or simply to network without the hassle or additional formalities of a meal.

The majority of people prefer to keep it personal: the top three reasons for getting together for coffee are:

    1. Catching up with an old friend (57%) 
    2. Spending quality time with a partner or spouse (50%) 
    3. Gossiping with a good friend (38%)
  • Canadian millenials in particular, aged 18 to 34, also say coffee dates hit the mark when it comes to career and work, with almost one-third saying that networking and talking through work issues with a colleague are reasons to meet for coffee
  • 29% of Canadians aged 18 to 34 like to meet for coffee on first dates 
  • Men more than women choose to career network (21% vs. 15%), and talk about work issues over coffee (26% vs 20%)

National Coffee Day is the perfect time to take 20 to catch-up, hang out, or chitchat. Over coffee, of course. 

Did you know that Tim Hortons pours almost 8 out of 10 cups of coffee sold in Canada?  While you can’t go wrong with the  Original blend (definitely a Canadian favourite) more than 100 million cups of Dark Roast have been poured since the chain-wide launch in August 2014.

  99. I always joke that my wife is powered by coffee. She works very hard, and we have a Tim Hortons about 5 minutes away, so my favourite moment on weekends is when I can sneak out and get her a hot coffee for when I have to wake her up.

  178. I’d love to win this prize because we go to Tim Horton’s every 2nd day when I go to dialysis so the GC would come in handy. I also need a new travel mug as I lost the lid for my current Tims travel mug and who doesn’t like home brewed Tim Horton’s.
