That time I chilled with Celebrity @ChefChuckHughes and watched the #Habs game from the @lgcanada box #LaBouffeLG

Anyone who knows me online or personally, knows I a) LOVE hockey b) am a ridiconculous foodie. You can just imagine my shrill joy and excitement when I received an invitation from LG Canada to watch the Habs (Montreal Canadiens) play the Sens (Ottawa Senators) in person (GO HABS GO!)….with CHUCK HUGHES. [INSERT: high pitch squeal, the funky chicken and tons of high fives]. So I calmly, and ever so cooly responded back: “Sure, I would love to to,” which really meant [OMG ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! OF COURSE I’LL BE THERE!!!!!!].

I met up with a group of local Montreal area digital influencers in the club lounge (no biggie) and made my way up to the “Box” which is more of a swanky lounge with servers, delicious food and unlimited drinks. Being the hockey nerd I am, I bee-lined straight past the delicious spread of fancy shmancy food and stood in awe, staring at the magnificent ice below. It was sheer joy. There were harps playing in my mind, a gentle mist rising from the sacred Montreal ice…okay, there was neither of those things but it was magnificent nonetheless. While others loaded up on plates of delicious food and downed one drink after the next, I felt my red, white and blue (INSERT: Habs reference) heart palpitating with sheer bliss.

A short while into the game, I ventured back into the main box area to load up on some tasty hummus (as a strict halal food only eater I staked my claim on the hummus that evening as well as the delicious cheese pizza they were kind enough to order me) when to my amazing surprise, in saunters none other than Food Network Star, the first Canadian chef to EVER win Iron Chef America after beating none other than celebrity chef Bobby FREAKING Flay. Obviously that is not his name but I am adding dramatic affect here.

Back to the story. In walks Chuck Hughes, the wind picks up around me, small harps begin to play, little birds are fluttering around…okay, none of that actually happened in reality, I was just super psyched to see one of my favourite Canadian chef again in person. Again? Clearly, you remember that time that LG invited me to a local Montreal furniture retail store for a private meeting with Chuck…and he cooked for me. You don’t? No worries, check out the video below.

In typical Chuck fashion when one of the awesome reps at LG introduced me to him, he super casually goes, “oh? We go way back.” Gotta love Chuck’s super down to earth personality. He’s the real deal. Oh and we were wearing matching Habs jerseys. Coincidence? I think not.

We chilled in the LG Box, ate pizza, watched the game, cheered our hearts out and took a whole bunch of selfies.

So during my Facebook Live with Chuck Hughes [which was awesome], I got to hear all about the EPIC Tailgate party Chuck hosted with LG Canada just prior to the game. They served “hundreds of pounds of chicken wings to thousands of people,” according to Chuck over a period of about four hours using four LG Pro-Bake ovens to feed all those people.

I was pretty impressed to learn that the LG Pro Bake convection oven is the first free standing range oven for the home is the first to adopt commercial oven convection technology. It delivers even baking results on every rack, every time. No wonder Chuck and his team could cook up a chicken wing feast in no time. Check out the video below for more info:

I am super thankful to my friends at LG Canada for the invitation and for the fantastic game with Chuck Hughes. The Habs wound up beating the sens 3-1 that night which of course was the perfect ending to the perfect evening. This hockey loving, Canadian foodie couldn’t have been happier.
