Driving this beast will make you want to find new roads – 2015 Chevrolet Impala #ChevyAmbsdr

If you’re searching for a sturdy, luxurious, spacious full sized sedan. Look no further than the 2015 Chevrolet Impala, it is well built and commands respect on the road.

The Impala has been around since 1958 but it was my first time actually driving one. My first thought when I picked it up was: WOW. Space, space and more space. Luxury. Comfort. I sat in the driver’s seat and practically felt like I had climbed into a plush massage chair at a salon. You’ve undoubtedly heard of heated seats; they are relatively common and a wonderful feature to have in the dead of winter or if you have bad back pain. The 2015 Chevrolet Impala however has seat COOLERS. How amazing is that you wonder? Think humid summer days, your skin is sticky, damp and try as you may, you cannot cool down. Imagine sitting down and having a refreshing dry coolness douse your back. It is perfect for a hot summer day.

Turning on the car felt like being at the helm of a ship. The vehicle is large but once you get used to its dimensions (which doesn’t take much time) it is incredibly fun to drive. It gives you a feeling of authority that typically comes with driving a higher vehicle such as an SUV. The lane departure warning and forward collision alert gave me comfort and peace of mind when travelling with my most important cargo; my family.

The Impala can comfortably seat five and offers plenty of convenient storage. With the push of a button, the available 8-inch diagonal touch-screen display goes up and down, revealing and concealing a lockable compartment with a USB for discreetly charging your smartphone. The center console contains two USB ports and a power outlet for charging multiple devices, plus integrated cup holders to keep beverages secure. There’s also hidden storage under the trunk floor and umbrella holders in the front door pockets to help you stay organized.

I cannot tell you how impressed I was with the spaciousness of this full sized sedan without telling you about the trunk. Let’s just say, pretty much anyone who saw the trunk of the 2015 Chevrolet Impala had immediate trunk envy. I was out with my good friend Jennell. We were driving around and she was admiring the interior of the vehicle. When I stopped to drop her off, I told her how amazing the trunk was. Being the free spirit she is, she hopped right in. Obviously I had to film it.

We took the Impala on a road trip to visit family in Toronto. My kids loved the back seat, their own cup holders and being able to lounge comfortably. I loved the comfortable seats, especially on the drive back when I may or may not have taken a 3ish hour nap.

I definitely appreciated the Bose Active Noise Cancellation included exclusively with the standard Impala engine. It’s no trip to the library when driving with young kids but when they took the inevitable exhausted-from-romping-around-all-weekend-with-their-cousins nap, the triple-sealed doors and acoustic-laminated glass noticeably helped inhibit unwanted noise in the cabin. The silence was well appreciated (while it lasted).

My husband loved the heated steering wheel. While we drove this in warm weather, my husband tested out the heated steering wheel and found it got pretty warm very fast.  He has added it to our wishlist for our next vehicle.

The Mr’s feedback:
“It’s a big engine and the car wants to go. It’s a very smooth ride and accelerating seems so much easier than with other cars. It’s hitting higher speeds at lower RPMs so you don’t really feel it but the acceleration is as smooth as freshly churned butter.”

I was REALLY excited to try out the 4G LTE wifi which turns the vehicle into the ultimate hotspot for up to 7 devices however unfortunately, despite testing it out before the drive, when we got on the road Friday evening we learnt that the vehicle was out of wifi minutes. Sadly we were not able to test out this awesome feature so I do not have too much to report this time. My children’s dreams of watching Netflix in the car have been put on hold #firstworldproblems.

We did however make excellent use of the OnStar capabilities in the vehicle. We left from Montreal Friday evening. It’s a drive we have made dozens upon dozens of times and typically not one in which we ever have to really stop. This time was different and we needed to make a few unplanned stops along the way.  The friendly and courteous reps at OnStar helped us out and got us where we needed to go, even suggesting stops that we weren’t finding ourselves based on our search criteria!

All in all the 2015 Chevrolet Impala is spacious, luxurious and built for long drives. The added convenience of 4G LTE Wifi and meticulously tailored design give this vehicle the CanadianMomEh two thumbs up!
